3. How Does the Process Work?
During the initial visit, the teeth on both sides of where the bridge will be are prepared to receive crowns. An impression of the teeth is then made. The impressions will be a model to make the bridge and crowns, which will be made in a dental laboratory. The dentist will then create a temporary bridge to protect any exposed teeth while waiting for the permanent bridge to be made. When a patient comes in for the second visit the temporary bridge is taken out. The permanent bridge is put in and adjusted where necessary. The dentist may put the bridge in using temporary cement so the patient can wear it for a few weeks to make sure the fit is correct. A few weeks later the bridge will be permanently sealed into place.
